City high flyer Nicola Horlick in £2m film fund
Nicola Horlick, the City high flyer whose fund was a victim of fraudster Bernie Madoff, is hoping to play a part in future blockbuster movies.
Her investment business, Bramdean Asset Management, has set up a company called Derby Street films that intends to raise £2m from private investors to develop films.
Box office hit: Horlick hopes to play a part in movies on a par with Shutter Island
It has lined up the producers of box office hits such as Pulp fiction and Leonardo Dicaprio vehicle Shutter Island to help it develop up to 25 film projects over the next three years.
It will work with a screenwriter to produce a script before selling it on to a production company.
Derby, which will also be led by Horlick, hopes to sell the projects with a film director and movie stars already lined up.
Derby is the first venture for Bramdean Asset Management since it sold the management contract to the Bramdean Alternatives Fund in November 2009 to Aberdeen Asset Management.
The fund lost about £10m to Madoff.
