'Tis the season to be giving: Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber named as the top charitable celebrities of 2011

Of the worldwide celebrities that use their wealth and status to do good, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber have been named the most giving.
The pop stars' charitable acts have earned them the top two spots on DoSomething.org's annual Celebs Done Good list.
They are joined in the top three by The Descendants star George Clooney.

Gaga, born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, has earned her first place honour for her relentless anti-bullying campaign.

 The 25-year-old has even set up the Born This Way Foundation to help empower schoolchildren.
She even attended a White House meeting on teen bullying earlier this month.

Although he found himself in the middle of a teenage pregnancy scandal this year, 17-year-old Bieber is also a do-gooder.
The youngest person on the list has been feted for his work with Pencils of Promise, and organisation which built 41 schools in Central America.
It was founded by Adam Braun, the brother of the Baby singer's manager, Scooter Braun.

He has also donated time, attention and hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Toronto's Daily Bread Food Bank and the Children's Wish Foundation.
He also performed for the students of Whitney Elementary School in Las Vegas; more than half of the attending students are homeless.
Clooney, 50, has been honoured as an advocate for the victims of the political turmoil in the Sudan.

International ladies man Leonardo Dicaprio, 37, has been honoured for promoting IFAW's Animal Action education programme.

Ellen DeGeneres, 53, has been named a Global AIDS awareness special envoy, while NBA star Dwight Howard, 26, has been feted for his work with the D12 Foundation in Orlando, Florida.
Infamous do-gooders Brad Pitt, 48, and partner Angelina Jolie,36, have donated more than $300,000 to the Humanitarian Initiative Just Relief Aid in Somalia.

Last but not least is reformed pop star Demi Lovato, 19, who started the Love Is Louder Than The Pressure To Be Perfect campaign this year.
Also making the cut for the most charitable celebrities of 2011 are: Shakira, divorcing couple Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am, country couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert  and Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon.
Glee star Lea Michele, Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe, Miley Cyrus, the band Coldplay and Taylor Swift have also been named.

I was an exchange student and lived in Ningbo for several months. So, I learned plenty of things. Even though, I bring with me positive memories, I also carry some downsides. China is a very complex country. It’s like going on a boat on a peacuful river and occasionaly having to dodge the obstacles in your way. Sometimes it’s just a rock and sometimes it’s a big current. Along with this metaphore, I have an interesting story that happened in Guillin. We were riding it’s famous river, going along the water in a bambu boat. When suddenly, another boat came too close to us. The driver dodge the boat but one of our chairs, fell in the water. It was very poetic to observe how the chair was submerging into the water bit by bit, and we could not do much about, as the current of the river moved us forward.
