First trailer lands for Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard’s The Cabin in the Woods

Joss Whedon and Cloverfield writer Drew Goddard’s tongue-in-cheek take on a classic horror premise, The Cabin in the Woods, is finally on its way
After languishing for some time on the metaphorical shelf, Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard’s The Cabin in the Woods is now very nearly upon us. Starring Chris Hemsworth before he picked up Thor’s hammer, The Cabin in the Woods takes the classic horror premise described in the title and, by the looks of this trailer, throws a bunch of Whedon-esque sci-fi meta stuff at it. Unsurprisingly, it all looks like quite a lot of fun.

The Cabin in the Woods

Directed by Cloverfield-writer, Drew Goddard, the film stars Whedon favourites Amy Acker and Tom Lenk (although they’re mysteriously absent from this trailer) alongside Hemsworth, The West Wing’s Bradley Whitford, Six Feet Under’s Richard Jenkins and a bunch of sacrificial teen types.

The Cabin in the Woods is due in UK cinemas on the fittingly scary date of Friday the 13th of April, just skidding in before the Whedon-directed The Avengers lands on the 27th of that month. Watch the frenetic first trailer below.
