Leonardo DiCaprio To Make Another Painfully Important Film

Leonardo DiCaprio Body Of Lies Al Qaeda Ridley ScottWe're starting to believe that Leonardo DiCaprio owns a ticklist of important subjects that need to be made into films, in which case we're looking forward to the Leonardo DiCaprio movie about Moira Stewart being too old to read the news any more. In the meantime, though, we'll have to make do with Leonardo DiCaprio's most recently announced movie role, in Body Of Lies – a Ridley Scott-directed adventure about a CIA agent who goes on the hunt of an Al Qaeda operative who's planning to blow up America, and then tortures him until, a broken man, he begrudgingly admits that Leonardo DiCaprio's accent in Blood Diamond wasn't as bad as everyone said.

Leonardo DiCaprio is very probably the most in-demand actor around at the moment – with the obvious exception of Will Ferrell, who has a record-busting 238 'Will Ferrell… but in a hilarious profession you wouldn't expect Will Ferrell to have' movies lined up.

Somehow, in between saving the world from certain destruction and beating up Jews, Leonardo DiCaprio will have to find time to star in all sorts of films. There's the Leonardo DiCaprio Bourne Identity rip-off to make, and the Leonardo DiCaprio blinking film, not to mention various Leonardo DiCaprio films about destroying Enron and wolves on Wall Street and Titanic 2: The Unrelentingly Depressing Years – and now Leonardo DiCaprio is going to be making Body Of Lies with Ridley Scott.

Although Body Of Lies sounds like the sort of late-night erotic thriller that Movies 24 would go crazy for, it's actually a serious drama about one man's quest to rip off the plot of 24 hunt down an Al Qaeda suspect before it's too late. E! Online reports:

The three-time Oscar nominee is in talks to star in the post-9-11 spy thriller Body of Lies, playing a journalist turned CIA agent who travels to Jordan to track an Al Qaeda leader said to be planning an attack on U.S. soil… Variety reports that Scott is already scouting possible Moroccan locales for Body of Lies, based on the novel by Washington Post columnist David Ignatius, which will also take place in Washington D.C., Europe and the Middle East.

Phew, with Tom Cruise helping to kill Hitler in the past and now Leonardo DiCaprio stopping terrorists in the present, at least we'll all be able to rest easy knowing that only giant mutated rats from the future who live on the sun can destroy mankind now.
