They have shot three successful films together and he has referred to her as 'his muse.'
So it was no surprise that Uma Thurman was on hand to lend her friend and mentor Quentin Tarantino her support for his new film Django Unchained on Tuesday night.
She joined other glamorous female stars Liv Tyler and Olivia Wilde on the red carpet in New York on Tuesday, all eager to see the director's latest effort.

Great friends: Quentin wrapped his arm around Uma's waist and offered a peace sign to photographers before escorting the actress into the theatre
The glamorous Hollywood stars managed to steal the show from actor Leonardo DiCaprio who plays the lead role of plantation owner Calvin Candie.
Uma wrapped up against the city cold in a black coat, white scarf and heels, as her old friend Quentin escorted her into the theatre.
Olivia Wilde meanwhile, also plumped for a black outfit, but flashed a little more flesh in her revealing black waistcoat which she teamed with a pair of black trousers and blue heels.
Liv Tyler was another glamorous addition to the red carpet, although, like Thurman and Wilde, does not star in the film, which is both written and directed by Tarantino.
Suited and booted: Leonardo arrived dressed in a grey suit and blue tie, while Jamie Foxx arrived in a black suit and waistcoat

Leonardo, who arrived in a grey suit, found himself in high demand as he chatted to several reporters on the red carpet.
The film sees him play ruthless plantation owner Calvin Candie in the Deep South two years before the beginning of the American Civil War.

Django (Foxx) is a slave who has been separated from his wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) and is freed by a bounty hunter named Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz).
Schultz asks Django for his help in hunting down the Brittle Brothers, a ruthless gang of killer, in return for his aid in freeing DJango and rescuing Broomhilda from plantation owner Calvin Candie (DiCaprio).
Leonardo recently described his character as: 'One of, if not the most, despicable, indulgent, radical characters I’ve ever read in my life.'

He added to Details magazine: 'Writer-directors tend to be very precious about their material and their words, but Quentin’s whole process is getting input from the actors and adding levels to their characters.
'A lot of the talks we had specifically about phrenology really took him to a completely different level.'
Meanwhile, Tarantino has been effusive in his praise for Leonardo's performance in the role.

'He really embodied that entitled young male character perfectly,' he told The Daily Beast. 'His grandfather owned and made the plantation successful and his father kept it going in the movie.
'But DiCaprio’s character is just this kid who’s done nothing for the life he’s living. He’s living it up all the way with his decadence and greed, with no concern for how he got it.'
But the director isn't worried about cinema goers' possible reluctance to see a film about such a sensitive subject.

Where does he get the energy: She recently revealed she wants to start a family despite being 31 years younger than the Rolling Stone
'The dynamics of the country are changing and people are talking about that.' he said. 'This time in history is a part of that conversation, and I love that we’re out there talking about it in the middle of the other films about Lincoln and whoever.
'I may take flak but I always do on some level with my work. Wouldn’t be a Tarantino film without some flak and criticism. I bet anyone who sees the film won’t be able to forget it - and that’s the point.'
Tarantino certainly seems to have attracted a slew of stars to the project.
